Another ‘mobilise to socialise’ walk in PENN & JUBILEE WOOD
This is the shorter version of a Chiltern Society Walk taking in Penn and Comon Wood, Penn Bottom and House and Winchmore Hill. The terrain is easy with good paths, but there are a number of gates and some stiles. Penn Jubilee Wood was created by the Woodland Trust in 2012 to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. In 2014 management of the wood passed to the Chiltern Society and since then many native trees have been planted. Common Wood, was once part of 4,000 acres of common land called Wycombe Heath. In 1951 it was designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). There should be opportunity to see wild flowers, butterflies, mammals and birds.
Please bring a snack. Weather permitting, there will be a stop at about the midway. Well behaved dogs allowed.
