This winter walk starts from Platt Church with a climb through the churchyard into Platt Woods and along two short woodland sections of the Wealdway, interspersed by quiet lanes. On leaving the Wealdway, we'll cross open farmland with views of the North Downs and the seven 'Grey Ladies' oast houses. Passing through the hamlet of Crouch we'll take the lane to Claygate Cross and down Plough Hill to Basted Mill. We'll return to Platt via a steep bridleway alongside Long Bottom Wood.
Non-members are welcome to join this walk as one of their three free 'taster' Ramblers walks.
The two quite steep uphill sections of this walk are likely to be muddy. Walking poles are recommended. No stiles. Dogs on short leads are welcome but note there is some lane walking.
Nibble break at Basted Mill.
Drinks after the walk at The Blue Anchor near Platt Church. Lunches also available - please book in advance on 01732 885 498, mentioning Tonbridge and Malling Ramblers.
