We are the Kilmarnock & Loudoun Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
This is an approximately 9 mile/4.5 to 5 hour walk (we can be flexible) starting outside Mancini's Cafe at Prestwick beach. We will walk along the beach to the Pow Burn and head inland to cross the bridge over the Pow Burn. We can have a coffee break outside the Prestwick Holiday Park and we will then follow the tarmac road through Royal Troon Golf Course, past the Marine Hotel and along the promenade to have lunch in the Dementia gardens or the nearby shelter depending on the weather. To return to Prestwick, we will follow the beach back to the Pow Burn, over the bridge and take the tarmac road alongside Prestwick Golf Course back to Mancini's Cafe. Please let the walk leaders know if you are planning to go directly to Prestwick (077 852 340 70). Jim and Rona will meet walkers outside Mancini' s Cafe for a 9.30 am start.
By car follow the A77 towards Ayr and follow signs for Prestwick Airport. Pass beyond airport and follow A79 into Prestwick until you reach Prestwick Cross and turn right at the sign for the Railway Station. Carry on past the railway station and Mancini's Cafe and follow road round to the right where there is lots of parking. By train, turn right on leaving Prestwick Town station and walk down the road towards the sea. Mancini's Cafe is on the right. Toilets (50p, card only) are available next to Mancini's Cafe (end of walk only) and next to the Kiosk at Troon beachfront.
