We are the Hammersmith, Fulham & Wandsworth Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A leisurely, mainly flat walk through some of South-West London's parks and commons with one very gentle ascent along paths to Wimbledon Common and a gradual descent along pavements and alleyways to Wimbledon town centre. A little mud must be expected in a few places.
Route: Putney, Wandsworth Park, Putney Embankment, Putney Lower Common, Putney Heath, Wimbledon Common, Wimbledon Public Library (very close to Wimbledon Station).
Lunch: In Windmill Tearooms on Wimbledon Common, or picnic nearby. Please note, the tearooms are very busy on Saturdays so we might only have time to get tea or coffee there. It is advisable to bring something to eat with you.
Suggested train: Waterloo 10.22, Clapham Junction 10.32, arriving Putney 10.37.
All are welcome to come on the walk whatever Group they are in. Hammersmith, Fulham and Wandsworth Group members are invited to attend the Group's AGM which will begin shortly after the end of the walk.
Meet at Putney Railway Station (SWR). The walk will start at 10.45 sharp.
Finish at Wimbledon Public Library - just a few yards along the road from Wimbledon Station (Network Rail, Croydon Tramlink and various bus routes). Please note, the District Line is not running on 2 November.
