Travel back over 1,800 years to Calleva Atrebatum, the Roman crossroads between London and the South West. Deserted after AD 450, we will stand in the town's amphitheatre, and walk the walls of this curious ruin. Then after lunch, we'll roam through the varied Berkshire countryside before taking the Kennet and Avon Canal into Woolhampton.
Please bring a packed lunch. Pub stop at lunchtime (for drinks only), and at the end.

Travel: Take 10:33 from London Paddington, change at Reading (arr. 10:56, dep. 11:04), arr. Mortimer 11:17.
Buy return to Mortimer. May require an additional single from Midgham to Reading. (Note: Midgham station is in the village of Woolhampton).
