Meeting at Selhurstpark Road free car park (Height Restriction 2.0m), the route goes broadly via Chiseldown before descending towards the village of East Dean, then climbing steadily north eastwards skirting High Down and reaching our highest point towards Tegleaze. The return takes us descending along Oxen Down to Droke. The final ascent through the forest returns us to the car park.
Break for packed lunch.
There are a couple of steep ascents/descents on mud/chalk where extra care may be necessary and as usual at this time of year expect mud. Walking poles can be beneficial.
Most of the higher points are within the forest and sheltered to a limited extent, however, there are several exposed areas so please ensure you are suitably kitted out.
Should high winds be forecast so increasing risk from falling trees/debris or there is snow the walk will be cancelled.
Well behaved and controlled dogs are welcome.
