Leaving the car park the walk heads in the direction of the village of Great Wilne and then returns in the direction of Shardlow. A flat walks then follows eventually bringing us to Aston-on-Trent. There will be a stop here allowing lunch and a look at the Grade 1 listed church. Then across to the Trent and Mersey canal and back to Shardlow.
Car park is free. No public toilet facilities at the start or en route. Aston does have pubs and a bar cafe which may offer opportunities for a break.
Wilne Lane car park on RHS just before bridge over canal. Wilne Lane is on the right by the Navigation Inn if approaching from Cavendish Bridge.
