Leaving the car park the walk heads in the direction of the village of Great Wilne and then returns in the direction of Shardlow. A flat walk then follows eventually bring us to Aston-on-Trent. There will be a stop here allowing lunch and a look at the Grade 1 listed church. Then across to theTrent and Mersey canal and back to Shardlow.
Car park is free. No public toilets at the start or en route. Aston does have pubs and a bar cafe which may give opportunities for a break. Bring packed lunch.
Wilne Lane is on the right by the Navigation Inn if approaching from Cavendish Bridge. Wilne Lane car park is then on the RHS just before the bridge over the canal.
