We are the Wakefield and District Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
The walk is 9 miles as per the programme and there are 19 stiles although if the weather is dry I might do a scenic diversion which will knock 5 of those stiles off (this alternative route can be very muddy). There are no toilets on the route but plenty of trees (every tree is a lavatree!).. Walkers should not wear shorts, there are lots of nettles.
The walk is very rural and the terrain can be described as undulating.
We will have a coffee stop after 2.5 miles and lunch after 6.2 miles where there are seats.
Start: Cross Lane, Skelmanthorpe. HD8 9BR Near the junction of Smithy Lane and Thorpes Crescent. Car parking overlooking and at the side of the sports pitches.
