Overview

This walk explores the segment of the South Downs sitting between Amberley and Findon. Starting from Amberley, we ascend Rackham Hill by way of the Burgh, then descend the Downs ridge to the north and cross the Parham estate. From Storrington we climb back up to the ridge, summiting on Kithurst Hill. The route then heads south and up Blackpatch Hill, before zig-zagging up and over Harrow and Barpham Hills. We finish through the Angmering plantations and on down to Arundel.

Please bring a packed lunch. Pub at the end.

This will be a challenging walk, covering a long distance with numerous hillside ascents and thus demanding a decent, sustained pace. 760m total ascent. Good level of fitness required.

Travel: Take 8:36 from Victoria (8:43 Clapham Junction, 8:53 East Croydon), arr. Amberley 9:58.

Buy return to Arundel.
