Starting at the main car park of the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, our path takes us on a steep ascent through the Queen Elizabeth Forest, up and over our first hill, the first of many. The total ascent on this section of the South Downs Way is 1620ft, with barely a flat section on which to recover. On the plus side the paths are easy walking and the views spectacular. Apart from the beautiful countryside, we may see hang gliders launching themselves from the steeper summits.
We will stop briefly at Winchester Services on the M3 for a comfort break only. Please note no hot drinks are allowed on the coach. Please bring with you enough food and drink for the day.
We will travel in the coach with our boots on and with our bags to hand so that we can make a quick exit and start. Everyday shoes can be left in the luggage compartment of the coach.
If you wish to have dinner at the Shire Horse on our return please make sure you place your order with a walk leader before the coach leaves. If possible, please view the menu on the Shire Horse website beforehand to save time.
