Join us for a scenic circular walk starting from Standon, a historic East Hertfordshire village with a beautiful Grade I listed church, first mentioned in 944 AD.
The route meanders through the Standon Lordship conservation area, follows the River Rib, and takes in open fields with far-reaching views, lake, woodland, and the hamlet of Latchford. Undulating walk with some gentle hills and mostly firm terrain, not very muddy make for an enjoyable walk.
The walk is in two sections:
• Morning: southern circular ~6-6.5 miles, returning to Standon for a picnic lunch at a lovely pub garden. Those preferring a shorter walk can finish here, and have a hot lunch at the pub (The Star at Standon is a family-run pub with good reviews and a delightful garden).
• Afternoon: northern circular ~5 miles for those continuing.
Please bring a packed lunch and drinks.
