Overview

Starting out from Stanhope we follow the river west along the Weardale Way to Eastgate were we then start a steady and at times steep climb up to the moorland above the valley. The effort is worth it for the views. We then cross the moor and follow the Stanhope Burn back down to the town where we finish by crossing the river at the stepping stones.

A mix of roads, paths, woodland trails and some field walking. There is also a fairly short section over open moorland with no discernible path.
