Walk Description
This walk is basically a flat walk with very little variation for ups and downs. On the recce it was muddy in short stretches. From the village we progress in a westerly direction through woodlands and over meadows until we get to Bellasis Farm, the site of a bygone village area. We then continue across fields, crossing the River Blyth at Bellasis Bridge which is an original 16th century grade II listed monument.
We travel south on a quiet country road for about ½ mile before turning left onto the approach to Make Me Rich Farm at Blagdon, the home of the Northumberland Cheese Company factory and cafe. We make a stop here for toilets and café takeaways.
Continuing on our way, we walk along the permissive path to Bog House and onto the estate road towards New Kennels, passing cottages belonging to the Blagdon Estate along the way.
From there we make our way east skirting the A1 before joining the old road into Stannington.
To get back onto the A1 southbound you need to leave the village heading north for about ½ mile to the A1 South Interchange before heading south.
