This circular walk leaves Settle on the Ribble Way alongside the River Ribble for a short distance.
At Stackhouse we leave the Ribble Way to go over the fields to Feizor.
Ascending from Feizor initially, we then descend to go through Little Stainforth before arriving at Stainforth.
From Stainforth the walk takes us to the amazing Hoffman Kiln, an industrial scale lime kiln which is part of the Craven Works. This feat of engineering built in 1873 is one of the largest of its kind and best preserved in Europe with 22 individual burning chambers in a continuous circuit. There will be some time to admire the Hoffman Kiln, free to venture inside the eerie arched tunnel with any shafts of sunlight from the flues adding to the atmospheric experience this gem from our industrial heritage offers.
We then return to the River Ribble and follow that to pick up a path to Langcliffe before returning to Settle, passing Castleberg, the limestone crag that stands directly behind Settle.
