The first stage of a series of walks, ending in Boxhill, Surrey. This one starts at The Crown bus stop in Alton Road, Odiham and heads in a straightish line to Farnham, Surrey via Crondall. The plan is to catch the no. 13 bus from Basingstoke bus station at 08.50. Initially the walk crosses undulating open farmland passing close to Horsedown Hill on the way to Crondall, where there will be a refreshment break. After that the landscape changes and becomes more hilly and wooded with us finally dropping down into the Wey valley and the Surrey town of Farnham. Return to Basingstoke can be either by buses via Alton or train via Brookwood, which should allow anyone to get off at Fleet or Hook.
There are toilets in Odiham in King Street. We will pass those on the way out of the village. There aren't any in Crondall or anywhere else until we get to Farnham. The route was recced in August and the walking surfaces are likely to have changed since then, so expect the possibility of paths having been recently ploughed, although most of the route follows hedges so that would only apply to some paths. Bring drinks & snacks for the break at Crondall. Bring sandwiches for lunch at the end in Farnham. Otherwise, there are plenty of shops there for purchase of food and drink plus cafes, restaurants and pubs.
