There will be a walk of 6.25 miles from Monkwood. The walk goes towards Wichenford, visiting the Dovecot and passing through the churchyard. We then continue round the outskirts of Wichenford towards Ockeridge Wood via the Bulmers orchard and back down through Monkwood. Lots of nice views.
There are a limited number of places for geocache training starting at the same time. After the walk/geocaching, we will have a BBQ at The Fox Inn, Monkwood Green where you bring your own food to BBQ (we will supply paper plates). Some people are bringing cakes/biscuits to share. There is also an option to play skittles afterwards.
As the Landlord has been kind enough to provide facilities for this event, please purchase your drinks from the bar if you are participating. Parking at the pub only available to customers but there is plenty of on street parking available.
The walk is overgrown in parts and not all fields have cut paths. The woods can be muddy but the walk is fairly flat and all the stiles are good. There is giant hogweed nearby and although none was seen on the recce you should familiarise yourself with this plant so that you can avoid it if seen.
