This circular walk starts at Gracious Pond in Surrey, passing through woodland before going through the Fairoaks Airport area. The route then continues to McLaren Research Park, offering an interesting mix of technological landscape and rural terrain with some gentle ascents and descents. We will stop at Heather Farm for lunch (either alfresco or at the cafe). At Horsell Common we will walk past the historic sandpit which H.G. Wells used as the fictional first landing site of the Martian spacecraft invasion in his classic science fiction novel "The War of the Worlds".
The walk covers mostly gentle terrain, with paths including woodland tracks and open fields. Poles recommended as the woodland area can be muddy.
