Overview

The walk takes us up onto Thoresby Pit Top, then down into Sherwood Forest, through Edwinstowe, along the River Maun and back to Thoresby.

A mix of woodland, open spaces, some town walking and walking alongside the River Maun with amazing views,

No stiles but some steep inclines and declines from the Pit Top.

Some steps and steep paths so you may want to bring poles.

No livestock present on recce so dogs on leads welcome.

Usual coffee and lunch stops so please bring your refreshments.

Alders Pub carpark NG22 9DR, what3words evolution.comment.times 2 routes from Collingham (35mins) A1133 to Newark, A46 by-pass and the follow A616 all the way to the Ollerton roundabout. Take the exit to the A614 then first left into Alders carpark. There are 6 spaces at the entrance of the footpath but more by the pub (which we will visit at the end of the walk). Also there are further spaces in the layby on the A614. OR A1133 to A57, at Newton on Trent turn left, over the Dunham Bridge the left onto A6075 through Tuxford, Kirton, Boughton and follow it all the way to the Ollerton roundabout.
