Overview

This walk is in the Peak District - Britain's first National Park. We will criss cross between the counties of Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Key features are - the Limestone Way from Thorpe to the River Dove, the pretty village of Ilam where we will have our coffee stop,  Ilam Country Park, pastures towards Dovedale with an excellent view of Thorpe Cloud and other hills, the babbling River Dove, the Stepping Stones, which will hopefully be usable, and Lin Dale skirting around Thorpe Cloud. There are a tearoom, cafe and toilets at Ilam and light refreshments and toilets at Dovedale.

The walk uses pavements, field paths, good tracks, some surfaced paths and short sections of quiet lanes. There are three modest climbs, one of them stepped. There are no climb over stiles, but a few squeeze ones.

Refreshments will be available after the walk in The Old Dog pub.
