It was once said “There’s gold in them hills” but it was mostly fools gold! The walk starts in Wanlockhead and as it is the highest village in Scotland at 467metres we get a “good start”. The route takes us to the summit of Lowther Hill, out to and back from Green Lowther, out to East Mount Lowther, but then “back by a different route” (like the wise men).
Taking a slightly different route, I have cycled to the tops of Lowther and Green Lowther, admittedly sticking to the tarmac road!
