From the National Botanic Garden of Wales we will meander along quiet lanes and green fields towards the village of Llanarthne, with glimpses of the dramatic Paxton's Tower and the Black Mountain along the way. After reaching the village, with its 11th century church we head south along lanes, fields and woodland where the distinctive ruins of Dryslwyn Castle can be seen.
On reaching a broad forestry track we will ascend steeply towards the famous Paxton’s Tower. The tower and its panoramic views makes the climb more than worth the effort! From here we will make our way back to the Botanic Gardens along quiet roads and footpaths with glimpses of the Garden's huge oval glasshouse along the route.
