Walking in and around Dinefwr
We are a friendly group based in south west Wales, who walk in the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside, the Brecon Beacons and on the coast. In normal times we try to offer two group walks each week, usually a shorter one on Wednesdays and a longer full-day walk at the weekend. If there's a cafe or pub at the end, so much the better!
This is a very varied area, with an industrial and cultural heritage going back to Roman times, and plenty of castles too – reminding us that Dinefwr was once an important centre for feudal power. Our walks explore our local area and beyond.
Come and walk with us
We welcome non-members to try out a few walks with us. Not only are our walks a great way to make friends and socialise, but they also help us to keep fit and healthy. They are usually quite relaxed, and we often take time to take photographs and enjoy spotting wildlife.
We encourage new members to gain skills and confidence in planning routes and leading walks, with support from more experienced leaders. We’ll help with map-reading and using GPS so walkers can be safer when walking independently.
We enjoy social activities, such as an afternoon stroll followed by meal in a pub – which often involves non-walkers too. And then there are our organised group holidays in the UK and abroad, usually in spring and autumn.
You'll see some of our planned walks here. It's always best to contact the walk leader in advance, to find out if a walk is right for you. Walk leaders like to know who's coming so we can get in touch if there are any late changes. Please note that finish times are always an estimate - with lots of things outside the walk leader's control.
