A scenic walk that takes in the delight of the surrounding hills near Bolton. The walk combines tracks from the 26-mile Witton Weavers Way to form a scenic route either side of the A666 north of Bolton.
From the car park, we’ll follow the track between Turton Moor and Belmont Reservoir. Our route then passes by and through some plantations and over the A666, which we follow for a few hundred metres. We then head uphill to Turton Height and on to Cheetham Close, passing the remains of the Bronze Age stone circle (and cairns) reaching the trig point from where we have great views (on a clear day!) of Bolton and Manchester to the south and Peel Tower to the east.
After a short refreshment break at Jumbles Cafe (toilets available at the nearby car park), we’ll head downhill and then along another track before dropping down to Turton and Entwistle Reservoir where we’ll have our second refreshment break. Heading back uphill to the A666, we cross over to Cadshaw Farm and return over the track between Turton and Darwen Moors to the car park.
