This walk begins in the picturesque village of Luddenden and rises toward the village of Wainstalls and Cold Edge Dams. We will drop down via Lower Saltonstall and Jerusalem Farm to join the streamside walk back into Luddenden for a post-walk snifter at the famous Lord Nelson pub.
This walk is a game of two halves - it rises steadily, then drops steadily back to start! Pennine walking can be somewhat unpredictable in terms of weather and underfoot conditions so walkers are advised to dress according to the forecast and come in good footwear. Bring a packed lunch and drink. We will cross open moorland with lambing sheep, and important to rare ground-nesting birds so no dogs please.
Meet at the CP on Luddenden Lane, just before the fork that takes you into Luddenden village itself. This is a donations honesty box so some change is needed. This is also a popular spot for churchgoers so come early or car share to ensure a spot. Public transport is available along the main Burnley Road with a short walk up.
