This is a walk of approximately 4.5 miles, at a leisurely pace. We set off from East Begholt Village Car Park at 10am. We will walk towards the Church and then down the lane you take driving back from Flatford until we reach a footpath off to the left, heading to Clapper Farm. We continue on past some holiday lodges before we descend to join NT footpaths. We continue downhill & then up to go around a newly planted woodland & a mature one before joining other footpaths as we head to Willy Lotts Cottage & the Field Study Centre at Flatford.
We will pass a NT information room so you may wish to have a look and we will then go around to view the Mill from the otherside of the River Stour. The walk continues along the river bank until we reach Fen Bridge. We go over this & on up the Lane, arriving back to Flatford's access road and back to our start point.
There is a cafe in East Bergholt should you wish to join us for a drink when we finish and there are toilets in the car park and at Flatford.
There are no stiles but do please note that the terrain is undulating. There are hills in Suffolk!
The paths can be muddy so please wear suitable footwear.
This walk is similar to one I have previously done on a Saturday but it is going the other way around. A bonus is that we can now walk along the river, as the breach has been mended.
If there is no spaces in the car park, please park in the village & join me in the car park.
