Overview

This walk will be led by Ged Leach.

The walk starts at the monument built in honour of the much loved local benefactor, Sir Tatton Sykes of Sledmere. The monument is an iconic landmark that can be seen for miles around. Frome there, the walk goes down York Road , a rather inappropriately named narrow lane that turns into a chalk track ( perhaps a good example of how roads used to be ) . At Garton Bottom the route heads noth along the lane for a short distance before taking a scenic circle via Cottam Well Dale, Philips Slack and the site of the old mediaeval village of Cottam.

No dogs except assistance dogs with the consent of the leader.
