Overview

A moderate 11 mile circular walk starting from Webbington Road car park (BS26 2HN). Good footpaths and short sections on unclassified roads on a mixture of open and wooded terrain. Start by climbing to Crook Peak, then descend to Barton. Cross the Lox Yeo valley to Yarberry Farm then climb Banwell Hill. Traverse easterly along the edge of Banwell Hill to reach Banwell Castle and descend to Banwell Church via Dark Lane. Ascend Banwell Hill again from the north side, via High Street, and cross the hilltop to the path on the south side. Traverse westerly along this path, turn left at the end to cross the M5 motorway, and climb to the edge of Christon Plantation. Turn left and climb to meet the West Mendip Way via Keeper's Cottage then descend to Loxton. Follow the West Mendip Way to Webbington where there will be an option of refreshments at the Webbington Hotel. Complete the walk by following the unclassified road which leads to a footpath running parallel to Webbington Road, finally climbing a path on the left to reach Webbington Road and the start point.
