This lovely walk is across quiet Warwickshire countryside, riverside, fields and lanes. From Wellesbourne we head to Charlecote, along the river Deane (with possible kingfisher sightings!) and walk past the grounds of Charlecote Park and onwards to Hampton Lucy. From Hampton Lucy we follow the Shakespeare’s Avon Way along Scar bank. There is a short uphill ascent to the top of Scar Bank, where there are magnificent views towards Warwick and the Welcombe Hills and we can enjoy a welcome coffee break to enjoy the views. The remainder of the walk is across rolling fields and lanes.
We will head to the lovely village of Hampton Lucy and have a lunch stop at the cathedral like village church of Hampton Lucy, St Peter Ad Vincula. Please note church opening times vary and it may be closed. This is an impressive village church with magnificent stained-glass windows built in the 1820s. There will be an opportunity for refreshments at the Kings Head pub at the end of the walk.
There will be a short drinks stop and a slightly longer lunch stop - so remember to bring a drink and a packed lunch.
This is a joint walk with Walsall Ramblers and Sandwell Ramblers.
