Park in the Layby on B6263 between Warwick Bridge and Wetheral.

The walk starts at 10.00 (Grid ref NY 46720 55441 / what3words: awesome.decrease.pacemaker / Postcode CA4 8LB).

We proceed along the River Eden to Wetheral and visit the Priory Gatehouse. Going on to Wetheral Shield where there are good long distance views along the way, we may see some lambs, alpaca and horses. We continue on towards Cotehill, but before reaching there, turn off towards Brackenbank and the memorial gravestone by the River Eden. A late lunch sitting by the river and then on to Cote House, a cave, an Eden Benchmark, a historical church and a view from the viaduct before proceeding to the road and a short walk back to the cars.

The weather forecast is presently reasonable but colder than today.

The walk distance is about 8.5 miles, and the total ascent is about 1,000 feet. The ground was good when the recce was done on Thursday.
