This walk is designed for hay fever sufferers; it is on the coast, relatively short and avoids grass pollen. The walk uses public buses, bus pass or £2 single fare.
We meet on Portland, get free parking in the Masonic Car Park and catch the 9:57 bus to Weymouth's Kings Statue, arriving at 10:27. You can choose to join us there on the promenade opposite the Kings Statue. Buses for your return from Portland run every 15 minutes.
The walk to Portland is a scenic route that takes you past numerous historic sites, beautiful beaches, and charming cafes. There are leisure opportunities that you won't get to see on a road trip to Portland. The path is good underfoot, but I recommend wearing stout soles for added comfort and safety.
We promenade through Weymouth, up to the Nothe Fort, along Newtons Cove and up to Sandsfoot Castle to meet The Rodwell Trail to Ferry Bridge. Along the old railway line to Portland Marina and Castle before crossing the Isle to through old Fortuneswell and promenading back to The Masonic Car Park.
