We are the Bolton Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

We will depart from Wheelton Village and make our way to the south of Brinscall. From there we will ascend through Wheelton Plantation before emerging onto Wheelton Moor on our way to the summit of Great Hill. After taking time to admire the view, we will decend south and west towards Lead Mines Clough. After lunch we will continue our return, skirting the area of White Coppice and passing Heapy Reservoirs before arriving back in Wheelton Village via Blackburn Road.
A possible visit to the Neolithic burial mound of Round Loaf will be dependant on weather and ground conditions.
Please bring a packed lunch and drinks. We recommend suitable clothing and sturdy shoes or boots on all our walks.
Note that The Red Lion and The Village Tea Room (opposite) are expected to be open from 10am for those arriving early.
