This walk is a celebration of our incredible gritstone edges. From Longshaw, we will pay a visit to Tumbling Hill, with its wonderful view along the Derwent valley, before continuing to Froggatt and Curbar edges, and returning along the more remote White Edge. Weather permitting, we should get some spectacular and extensive views of the upper Derwent valley, and distant Kinder plateau. This walk has previously featured rutting red deer stags, so who knows what may turn up this time!
Bring packed lunch.
Please be sure of your fitness level to undertake this walk. Mindful of the short daylight hours, it will be essential to maintain a reasonably brisk pace, to avoid placing the party in jeopardy. This walk crosses areas of high exposed moorland. It is vital that walkers bring adequate food, warm clothing, waterproofs and strong waterproof footwear. Bear in mind it is the winter season, and regardless of the forecast on the day - be prepared for rapidly changing and potentially worsening conditions. Underfoot conditions can be challenging, with tree roots, boulders and bogs to negotiate.
