Great views including back to Shining Tor, weather permitting...
12.4 miles and 1,834 ft of ascent, so perhaps 7.5 hours, and a good one to test our summer fitness as winter approaches.
We cut through the northern side of the Macclesfield Forest ("A Walk In The Forest"), via our highest point of 431 metres (1,416 feet).
Then across to bag Teggs Nose (380 metres, early maps show the area as Tegge's Naze, Tegge was an early Norse Settler and 'nose' meaning a promontory).
Trying to keep our height & views, we head across to the ridge of Kerridge Hill and along the saddle to an odd cone called White Nancy (altitude 280 metres, Grade II listed building/summer house/folly, though the door is blocked, built in 1817 to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Waterloo).
We then meander our way across though Rainow and the River Dean valley before our final stiff ascent, followed by easier ascents to approach Lamaload Reservoir. we arrive at our second highest point of 422 metres (1,386 feet). And it's downhill from there to the end.
Very little road/tarmac. Not particularly muddy, but gaiters recommended.
