Overview

We will walk the start (or end) of the South Downs Way, climbing out of the historic city of Winchester onto the Hampshire downs and following the SDW to Gander Down. Here we will leave the long distance path and follow footpaths and tracks through the pretty village of Cheriton and across the site of the Battle of Cheriton into New Alresford. There should be plenty of Hampshire countryside views to enjoy.
