Overview

A varied walk that includes heath, fields and waterways, some hills and rough terrain. From Witley we head to Hambledon, continuing to Hydon heath and through Busbridge woods to Winkworth Arboretum (National Trust). After a 40 min café/picnic lunch (picnic advisable as the café is small & usually busy) we follow the footpath through the arboretum with its display of spring flowers, and continue through woodland and fields to Catteshall to reach the Wey Navigation at Farncombe Lock. The final mile follows the waterway to Godalming. Possible opt-out by limited No.42 bus service to Godalming at Winkworth. Difficulty: moderate and hiking footwear is essential. Maps OS 145 & OL133 Longer afternoon than morning. Finish circa 16:00h.
