From Knaresborough Station we go down to the river and along the Beryl Burton Way, enjoying woodlands, fields and views from the Nidd Gorge Viaduct before heading towards Harrogate Station along the Greenway. There's a gentle slope down to the river from the station, avoiding cobbles and steep stairs. We do have a slight pull up along the cycle path but nothing very steep. Most of the route is on cycle tracks, with just a short wiggle across grassland and through a small wood to get your boots a little bit muddy.
Once in Harrogate we could extend the walk to enjoy a stroll in the Valley Gardens - entirely up to you.
We'll travel on the 10.12 train from York, due to arrive in Knaresborough at 10.36. Trains back from Harrogate to York are half-hourly, at 5 and 35 minutes past the hour.
You can use a day return to Harrogate, which costs £7.70 with a railcard or £11 without.
