Walking in and around Clitheroe
Welcome to the Clitheroe Ramblers. We cover the heart of the Ribble Valley and is its premier walking group. We are a popular group with many members and an extensive walking programme. You will find a good welcome here whether you want to try us out, are visiting our area or think you would like to become a member.
We offer a variety of shorter, local walks of approximately 5 miles and full days out with 8 or ten mile walks. The longer days allow us to explore the Yorkshire Dales, the Pennines, South Cumbria and the North Lancashire coast. It's all beautiful and best explored on foot, we think!
Shorter walks are on alternate Tuesday afternoons, occasional Saturday mornings and on Wednesday evenings, through summer. There is a longer walk every weekend and on alternate Tuesdays.
Our walking community
As many of our members offer to lead walks, you will find a variety of pace and emphasis on offer. Most of our walks are marked 'Moderate' because you can't go far in our area without hitting a hill or some uneven terrain.
The area known as Ribble Valley is vast. It includes the 'Trough of Bowland', an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On our walks we visit remote spots with fantastic views and features.
We are a friendly group with members from many different backgrounds. We run an active social programme and we quite often return to a pub after our walks.
Our leaders are happy to chat about their planned walk and answer any questions you might have.
