Walking in Keighley
We are a friendly group of like-minded people who enjoy nothing better than to explore the lovely and varied countryside of West Yorkshire and neighbouring counties in sociable company. That is why we joined the Ramblers. Every week of the year they provide an extensive programme of walks for members to take pleasure in with the security that group walking brings.
The Ramblers has been at the heart of campaigns to improve access to Britain’s countryside since its formation. As a result, this country has one of the best public footpath networks in the world, the maintenance of which costs money.
By becoming a Keighley Ramblers member, you contribute funds to the vital work that the charity does to enhance the footpath network in our area, which directly benefits us as keen walkers.
Come and join us, we’re sure you will finish our walks feeling a lot better than when you started!
Our walking community
Our programme consists of alternate short and long walks, ensuring that we offer a walk to suit all abilities. All our routes are pre-walked and risk assessed to guard against the problems that can be encountered when walking alone.
The mental and physical benefits of walking are well documented, but by joining Keighley Ramblers you can be assured of making new friends and perhaps learning more about the history and landmarks of our region.
Our programme covers a large part of West Yorkshire sometimes crossing into North Yorkshire and Lancashire, taking in every type of landscape on offer, and making it highly likely you will discover somewhere you never knew existed!
Our leaders are easily contactable and happy to provide advice about their walks, whether it be directions to the start or queries about terrain. All they ask is that you come appropriately attired and with sufficient refreshment.
