Walking in and around Loughborough
We are a friendly group of the Ramblers who enjoy walking, the interest and beauty offered by our countryside, and the friendship of like-minded people.
We are based in the town of Loughborough and the surrounding area and many of our walks are fairly local in north Leicestershire, south Derbyshire and south Nottinghamshire but we often travel to the adjacent counties and the Peak District and have an annual group weekend further afield.
Our programme offers two walks each week, one mid-week and one weekend, throughout the year and a number of social events.
Non-members and visitors from other groups are always welcome so please explore our own website [link] to see what we have to offer.
Our walks
Mid-week walks are usually on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, between 5 and 7 miles and fairly local to Loughborough. They generally finish by about 1pm and are often followed by an optional lunch at a tearoom or pub. Some of these walks are in the evening during the summer months.
Weekend walks can be on either Saturday or Sunday and are usually between 10 and 15 miles. They are generally further afield and so we encourage car sharing with a meeting point in Loughborough. As the walks don't finish until late afternoon it is usual to bring a packed lunch to be eaten during the walk.
Our events
These include an annual long-weekend holiday, social events, participation in the annual Leicestershire area quiz night and joint events with other groups.
