Walking in North Devon
Welcome to the North Devon Ramblers. We have over 300 members and are located in the north of the county of Devon. North Devon has just over 1000 square km of land and around 800 km of footpaths, but we don’t turn back at the border. Our walks extend east into Somerset, west into Cornwall, and south into mid Devon and Dartmoor.
North Devon has so much to offer walkers. 100 km of coastline with dramatic cliffs and gorgeous sandy beaches. Exmoor with rolling moorland, wooded combes, streams and rivers glinting in the sunlight. And in between there are acres and acres of lush Devon countryside with hills, woods, rivers and farmland. All full of flora, fauna, and centuries of history to discover too.
Coast, countryside and moorland. All equally beautiful and just asking to be explored on foot. Join one of our walks to discover more.
Our walking community
We are a friendly group of people, and we enjoy meeting new walkers and sharing lively conversations, whilst exploring our beautiful North Devon countryside, moorland and coastline on group walks.
We produce a comprehensive programme with two walks most weeks ranging from easy strolls to strenuous hikes and many other walks in between. Have a look at our walks programme and photos for a taste of what we offer.
Talking whilst walking is very natural and it’s a great way to meet people, make friends and find out about all manner of things – local flora and fauna, current affairs, local history, a good book, film or TV programme and many more topics. And all whilst getting some exercise.
Being outdoors and experiencing the space, nature and beauty around us can be quite magical, and definitely therapeutic. Come and try for yourself – you’ll be very welcome.
