Walking in the West Midlands
Welcome to the West Midlands Walking Group. Join our busy and varied programme of walks, social events and walking trips away. We often have two walks available at weekends as well as evening walks in summer and up to six weekends away a year staying in youth hostels or similar. Don’t worry if you do not have your own transport – we often have starts at train stations or pick up options available.
Our walks vary from easy short canalside walks with a pub stop to challenging mountain climbs. Feel free to dip in and out as you chose. Our day walks are normally in the West Midlands and surrounding areas (Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire and Shropshire) usually within an hour’s drive of Birmingham. Our website lists details of all of our events and other information about the group.
Our walking community
Enjoy a stroll or something more challenging on our day walks leaving the navigation to someone else! Make new friends and see parts of the countryside that you never thought of visiting, or perhaps join us for an evening amble and drink or a meal. Try your hand at walk leading (with help available to get you started).
Socialites will enjoy our varied events which include theatre, canoeing, horse trials, bowling, escape rooms and many other activities offered by members. See the UK and Ireland on our walking trips around the British Isles. Trips are typically weekends, or long weekends around bank holidays, with longer durations for more distant trips such as Scotland or Ireland.
