Overview

The walk starts at the Stourhead car park. It follows the zig-zag down to the Spread Eagle Inn. Passes St Peter's church to Rock Arch. Passes Turner's Paddock lake and waterwheel and Beech Cottage to the ruins of Tucking Mill. It then goes through woods and a steep ascent to Terrace Ride and then to Alfred's Tower. The walk retraces Terrace Ride before following a forestry track to Broad Ride and Park Hill Camp Iron age hillfort and then to Turner's Paddock where it retraces the route to the start. Lunch can be had a Stourhead. In the afternoon there is an optional walk around Stourhead gardens of 2.2 miles. I have not pre-walked either of these walks, they are taken from the National Trust Stourhead website. Please car share, the leader has 3 spaces. Bring a drink. Max 15 people. Please book online using the website link. Do not contact the leader about bookings.
