Overview

From the church at Ashurst we head south with good views all round before joining the Wealdway.  We climb up past Bolebrook Castle before dropping down to Cowden for lunch.  About 6.7 miles and 200 metres/650 feet of ascent.

After lunch, we go by the church at Cowden and head back to Ashurst via Moat Farm and Willett's Farm.  About 4.6 miles and 90 metres/300 feet of ascent.

An enjoyable walk with good views.  We might be lucky and get a display of bluebells as we climb through Coomb Wood.

Lunch will be at Cowden - either in the excellent Fountain Inn or picknicking on the benches at the ancient St Mary Magdalene church.  After lunch, there are more good views before the climb back up to the start.

Park by the church in Ashurst, just off the A264. Parking is very limited but the car park for the village hall is opposite the church and has no parking restrictions. If needed, there is a small lay-by on the A264 downhill from the church and on the left after you pass under the railway bridge. If all else fails, park in the paying car park (£2.70) at Ashurst station.
