The first part of the walk is on a very pleasant downhill woodland path (uphill on our return!) which leads to Lugar Water. We go under the main road at this point and continue on the path until we enter the grounds of Dumfries House near the pond. This will be our tea break stop. We will spend time enjoying the grounds which have lots of Spring colour at present. In particular, we will walk up the Duchess of Rothesay path between rows of hundreds of daffodils, until we reach the gatehouse. We then head for the walled garden where we will have a lunch stop on some of the many benches provided.
We round off with our return through the woodlands to Auchinleck.
This is a moderate (c+) walk
Risks - there are tree roots to watch for on the woodland path at the beginning and end of the walk. Boots or strong walking shoes are required. Poles are optional.
The paths are currently dry and firm underfoot.
