We’ll head into Cwm Llwch along a good track before crossing a stile onto open country. We’ll drop into the Cwm to have a look at Llyn Cwm Llwch, and chat about the various myths / legends associated with this beautiful spot. Next the stiff climb to reach the ridge of Craid Cwm Llwch and poor little Tommy Jones’ memorial obelisk. Now we ascend a track to the summit of Corn Du, and then drop down a few metres before tackling the ascent to Pen Y Fan, at 886m the highest point in Southern Britain. Fingers crossed we’ll have a clear day to enjoy the fabulous views. We’ll skirt around Corn Du to Bwlch Duwynt, then make our way back to the Obelisk and on to the slopes of Pen Milan to begin our descent. Varied conditions underfoot, and stiles on the lower slopes, both up & down. Be prepared for rough weather!
A relatively short distance, but with a significant height gain, so the pace will reflect this. No records will be broken!!
