Meeting Point: Hareshaw Car Park & Picnic Area, NE48 2BZ, what3 words ///widely.scorch.nails
This is a small car park, however there are additional parking spaces in the village.
There are public toilets in the village, also cafes and a pub for drinks after the walk.
The walk is part of the Woodland Trust who maintain this footpath and the picnic areas. The Northumberland National Park classify this walk as moderate, overall it is a steady incline leading up to Hareshaw Linn waterfall, however there are a few short steeper inclines. It is a well used footpath with steps in places, criss-crossing over the burn by 6 bridges. At the top of this walk is the Hareshaw Linn waterfall – getting to the water edge is optional as it is a rocky descent of about 25 metres. Weather permitting we will take a 10 minute stop to admire the view before heading back down. We will have lunch at the picnic area.
The walk up to the waterfall and back again is only 3 miles, therefore a short walk along the river will be added onto the walk afterwards. We will then walk along to the Heritage Centre where there is the Tea on the Train cafe.
