Overview

This walk crosses from one river valley to another over the eastern Chilterns hills. We start in the town of Berkhamsted and climb out of the Bulbourne valley to Hockeridge wood and Ashley Green. On via Whelpley Hill to Ley Hill. Pub available for drinks and toilets, but bring picnic to eat on common.  Continuing through Cowcroft wood at Tyler's Hill before the descent to the Chess valley at Chesham station.  May be muddy after rain in places, a few ups and downs nothing too strenuous, but there are some high stiles.

Toilets available at Berkhamsted station (London bound platform)

Recommend taking 9:54 from Euston (Watford Jcn 10:13) arrives Berkhamsted 10:25. Freedom Pass holders will need to buy single extension ticket from Watford Junction.

Chesham station is within Freedom Pass area.
