Walk Description

From the Holl reservoir we continue along Strathenry Avenue joining the Glen Vale path past Drumain reservoir, then views across Ballo reservoir towards East Lomond Hill, and past Harperleas reservoir. We then continue along the Glen Vale path over moorland, which is boggy in places, with West Lomond hill to our right. We then start the slow ascent up to the summit of Bishop Hill where stunning views across Loch Leven emerge. We then slowly descend through woodland and farmland before rejoining Strathenry Avenue and returning to the car park.

There are a number of ascents but none that are very steep, and only gentle descents. The route is along farm tracks and established paths which can be rough with some boggy sections. There are stunning views in all directions.

Gaiters and poles recommended.

Travelling Instructions

From Currie Library join the M8 at Hermiston.

At Junction 2 take the M9 and then take the slip road for the M90 and the Queensferry Crossing.

Take Junction 5 on the M90 and turn right (B9097 Crook of Devon/Glenrothes)

There is then a dog leg (turn left, then right) staying on the B9097.

After 3.4 miles turn left onto the B920

At the junction turn right onto the B911

Strathenry Avenue is about a mile on the left. There is a sign for the Shed Centre about 100yds before the turning. If you get to Leslie you have missed it.

The car park is about 1.4 miles along the single track road. The road seems to turn right after about 1mile, ignore this and carry on straight.
