This pleasant walk sets off via Old Butt Lane, then through fields leading down to canal near Lawton Church. A change of scene goes through Bratts Wood & Lawton Woods which will hopefully give us bluebell displays under Spring-green trees. After Scholar Green we turn south near to railway, & through pastureland to Hardings Wood, finally rejoining canal back to pub.
Any stiles are in good condition, and all apart from one are very straightforward.
Parking: publican at the Red Bull kindly offers far end of pub CP. If you are not planning to go in afterwards, an alternative is roadside parking after going through Butt Lane on A34 Congleton Road, and just past LH turn marked Old Butt Lane; this is a wide road but be aware of any fast traffic.
